Home > Our aims

Harry’s Promise was created to support the growth and development of young people up to the age of 25 years in social care or care leavers. The charity aims to provide a range of experiences, opportunities and a supportive community where young people in foster or residential care, in the West Midlands, can thrive.

As a result of this, we want our young people to become well-rounded individuals who recognise their potential. As our charity, Harry’s Promise, grows we would like to support children and young people with education and work experiences, build their life skills through day trips and opportunities to network within the community and become a hub to the community where young people can turn to for advice and help.

Our values

The values of the charity are important and were written by Harry in his poem. Harry’s Promise poem is how we live our lives. These are just a set of values but we believe it is important we meet Harry’s values and live by HIS example.

As our charity grows, we aim to open charity shops where people can drop off their donations and support us. We also want to open community hubs where young people can come and get support with all aspects of their daily life. Whether that be helping to understand an energy bill, writing a shopping list, help with university and or apprenticeship or just a coffee and a chat. We would like these hubs to become a safe place where young people feel loved, valued and listened to. You could say like an extended family! Our vision is to do this in the West Midlands and then move up to Hull to replicate our work there and move across the rest of England and Wales spreading Harry’s Promise.
